Welcome to the Delight Dandiya Fiesta, a spectacular Navratri celebration held in the heart of Owen Sound! This vibrant and joyous gathering brings together the diverse communities of Grey Bruce County to celebrate the spirit of Navratri through the traditional dance forms of Garba and Dandiya.
What is Navratri?
Navratri, meaning "nine nights," is one of the most significant festivals in Hindu culture. It honors the divine feminine energy, specifically Goddess Durga, in her nine different forms. Each night of Navratri is dedicated to a different aspect of the goddess, and the festival culminates in the celebration of Vijayadashami (Dussehra), symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
Garba and Dandiya: The Heartbeat of Navratri
Garba and Dandiya are traditional folk dances from Gujarat, India, that are synonymous with Navratri celebrations.
- Garba: Involves circular movements around a centrally lit lamp or idol of Goddess Durga, symbolizing the cycle of life and devotion.
- Dandiya: Performed with colorful sticks (dandiyas) in an energetic, rhythmic dance that follows Garba. Participants dance in pairs, striking sticks in synchronized patterns, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere.

A – Yes, we believe in unity in diversity, thus this event is open for everyone.
Q – What is your refund and cancellation policy?
A – Once Pass/Ticket is purchased, absolutely no refund or cancellation.
Q – Can I bring food and soft/hard drinks with me?
A – Sorry, due to the nature of the event, food and drinks from outside are not allowed. Absolutely no alcohol policy. Due to being a religious event, intoxicated people and people who bring meat would be discouraged. Violators will be prosecuted.
Q – What should I wear?
A – Traditional Indian attire is encouraged but not required. Modest, comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for dancing are recommended. Short clothing would be discouraged to maintain the cultural and respectful atmosphere of the event.
